To locals, North County is considered the area that includes everything from Del Mar all of the way up to Oceanside. But, what makes it unique to deserve this distinction?
If you meet someone from Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Oceanside, Solana Beach, Vista, Escondido, Poway or San Marcos when you are traveling somewhere, they will probably tell you they are from San Diego. That’s because most of these cities are not really recognized by people don’t know the area.
That said, if you talk to someone local, they will tell you North County is very distinct from San Diego. It has its own laid-back, small-town sort of vibe. In fact, if you have visited San Diego, but you have never been to North County – you haven’t really ever been to San Diego (just sayin’).
