This is one of the first questions we hear not only from those in their 50s, but also their 60s, 70s and beyond. It was a question we asked ourselves before deciding to make our move at ages 56 and 55.

I remember when my mom first moved into Ocean Hills Country Club. At the time, her husband was over 55, but she was just 54. She wasn’t sure if she would fit in.

Today, at 55 I hear myself ask that same question.

Am I too young to live in a 55+ community? It’s a valid question.

There are definitely some things to consider when it comes to a 55+ community:

  • Age restriction can limit opportunities for younger family members/friends to come live with you.
  • There can be less diversity in terms of age, socioeconomic status and lifestyle.
  • You might feel restricted by HOA fees, rules and regulations.

These are all important questions to consider as you decide whether a 55+ community is right for you.

Ultimately, the decision to move into a 55+ community has less to do with your age and more to do with the lifestyle you want to create for yourself at this stage of your life.

If you are at least 55 years old and you are at a place in life where you want to be surrounded by people who are at a similar stage, who value a low-maintenance lifestyle and living in a peaceful environment, who enjoy being active and having a safe place to enjoy a wide variety of activities and who prioritize these things in their daily lives, you are definitely not TOO young to be in Ocean Hills Country Club.

Ocean Hills Country Club attracts a wide variety of ages. The first homes were sold in 1989 so there are still original homeowners living in the community today. Meanwhile, there are also lots of new residents on the younger end of the spectrum who are having fun enjoying all that Ocean Hills Country Club has to offer.

One thing that really solidified our decision to move to Ocean Hills Country Club is that we can create a “Blue Zone” lifestyle for ourselves. With a strong sense of community, plenty of activities and all that Southern California has to offer from great weather to healthy foods, we see it as a chance to live better. To focus on our health and wellness, while building strong social connections with friends and family. We are definitely not TOO young for that!
