From Ocean Hills Country Club, you can just rack up your bike and head straight to Tidelands Park in Coronado. If you want to get really adventurous, you can get on the Coaster with your bike ride to San Diego and then hop on the ferry to Coronado. That’s fun, too, but this time, we only had a few hours so we headed straight to Coronado and started from there.
Here’s the rundown:
Starting Point: Tidelands Park, Coronado
Your journey begins at Tidelands Park, a picturesque spot situated right along the San Diego Bay. With ample parking and facilities, it’s an ideal place to start your ride. Take a moment to appreciate the panoramic views of the San Diego skyline and the iconic Coronado Bridge. The park’s lush green spaces and calm waters set the tone for a relaxing ride.
The Ride: Silver Strand Bike Path
Heading south from Tidelands Park, you will quickly connect with the Silver Strand bike path. This well-maintained, dedicated bike route runs parallel to Silver Strand Boulevard, offering a safe and smooth ride. The path is relatively flat, making it accessible for cyclists of all skill levels.
As you pedal along, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views on either side. To the west, the Pacific Ocean stretches out, its waves crashing rhythmically against the shore. To the east, the tranquil waters of San Diego Bay provide a serene contrast.
Destination: Novo Brazil Brewery, Imperial Beach
Continuing south, the path eventually leads you into the “Bikeway Village” in Imperial Beach, a vibrant coastal community. Your destination, Novo Brazil Brewery, is renowned for its craft beers and lively atmosphere. Situated right off the bike path, the brewery offers a welcoming haven for weary cyclists.
Novo Brazil’s wide selection of brews caters to all tastes, from hoppy IPAs to rich stouts. Enjoying a cold beer on their sunny patio is the perfect way to celebrate your journey. They also have a variety of kombucha options. Pair your drink with some tasty bites from their menu, and you have a well-deserved reward for your efforts.
The Return Journey
After a refreshing break at Novo Brazil, it’s time to head back to Coronado. The return trip along the Silver Strand is just as enjoyable, with the late afternoon light casting a golden glow over the scenery. As you approach Tidelands Park once more, take a moment to reflect on the beautiful sights and the sense of accomplishment from your ride.
This bike ride from Tidelands Park to Novo Brazil Brewery and back is more than just a ride; it’s an experience that combines exercise, nature, and the joy of discovering local craft beer. So, grab your bike, gather some friends, and set out for a memorable day on the Silver Strand!
